How to make a meme in 2 minutes flat
(2-1/4 mins) Timelapse footage of a Facebook meme being created using InPixio Photo Clip and Microsoft Photo editor. Not a technical video - it just gives you the gist of how a meme-maker goes through their craft with Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass accompanying us.
Basic layering technique
(6 mins) This shows how to put a PART of an image behind (or in front of) another image when making memes, using the technique called layering.
Static memes are when you get a base picture and just plant something on top of the base. In fact this technique can be used for most memes and produce some very effective ones.
But sometimes, you only want PART of an image showing, and have it covered up by part of the background, such as this example where we take Peter Dutton and sit him in a coffin.
Cutting out spectacles effectively
(3-1/2 mins) When you're doing cutouts, and converting a jpeg picture into a transparent .PNG file with the background cut out and the subject remaining.
What if they're wearing spectacles, and are on a forty-five degree angle? The viewer can see through the spectacles, but the original shot could be showing anything that may not match the background you put it on.
You could cut the inside of the spectacles and leave a blank background - but that looks a bit strange. We solve the problem by inserting a translucent layer instead. The video shows how.
You can also use this technique if you cut out vehicles like cars and buses or it may even work on house windows if there's a reflection in them you'd like to cover up.
