Karen Howard

Ran for the state seat of Newcastle as a Liberal. Lost. Then when Andrew Cornwell and Tim Owen resigned from parliament, Mike Baird said he'd atone for the disgrace and not run a candidate in either seat when the by-elections were held in September 2014.

However, Howard ran for Newcastle calling herself an independent, and lost. Badly.

Then, came the March 2015 NSW General Election, Karen Howard ran as a Liberal and lost again.

Karen McNamara

Formerly the Federal member for Dobell at the northern end of the NSW Central Coast. She lost her seat in July 2016 to Emma McBride.

McNamara was very lucky not to fall foul of ICAC. As Treasurer of the local branch she declared about $11,000 in fundraising on the EFA returns, but at a speech to the party faithful boasted about having raised closer to $100,000. She got away with it legally, but Emma McBride is now the new ALP member for Dobell. McNamara was a "noddie".

Kath Elliot

Kath Elliot was Newcastle Chamber of Commerce President who had a go at running for Council in the Ward Three by-election, vacated by Nuatali Nelmes when she took Jeff McCloy's position as Lord Mayor when McCloy finally resigned in disgrace and due to much public disgust after his ICAC appearances.

She ran as an independent because the Liberal Party was well on the nose at that time, but Novocastrians didn't fall for it and knew they may as well be voting for the Libs - they were just too gutless to admit it. A young 21 year old Declan Clausen won the vacant post, the second youngest Newcastle City Councillor.

The following two photos were about twenty years old, but she used them on her posters...
What a phony!
